No Mission Too Big, No Challenge Too Complex.

Applied Aeronautics provides engineering, integration, and operational support for mission-specific UAS programs. We develop practical, cost-conscious system solutions and support deployment with training, mission planning, and ongoing technical assistance to ensure reliable, field-ready performance throughout the system lifecycle.

What We Can Do for You

Engineering Services

We provide in-house UAS engineering for defense, research, and commercial programs, with a deliberate focus on practical deployment, affordability, and manufacturability.

Capabilities include:

  • Custom fixed-wing, VTOL, and multirotor airframe design

  • Modular payload and sensor integration

  • Communications, datalink, and RF systems

  • Avionics architecture and flight stack integration

  • Cable harness design and fabrication

  • Mission-specific mechanical and electrical assemblies

  • Rapid prototyping and hardware bring-up

  • Flight test, validation, and iteration

  • Low-rate initial production (LRIP) and small-batch builds

How we work:

  • Design, prototype, and test completed in-house for tight configuration control

  • Short development cycles and fast iteration

  • Systems engineered for reliability and field serviceability

  • Cost-efficient manufacturing for scalable production

BVLOS Services

We design, integrate, and certify complete Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, from aircraft architecture through regulatory approval.

Capabilities include:

  • Mission specific BVLOS system architecture

  • Detect and Avoid integration including radar, ADS-B, and ACAS

  • Command and control links with redundancy and failover design

  • Ground control, networking, and infrastructure setup

  • Flight test planning and performance validation

  • Operational risk assessments and safety case development

Regulatory support:

  • End to end Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 waiver strategy and submissions

  • Compliance aligned system design from day one

  • CONOPS, documentation, and test plans

  • Data collection and evidence packages for approval

  • Direct management of the review and coordination process

Software & Autonomy Engineering

We deliver deep UAV software expertise to extend, customize, and automate aircraft performance for mission-critical operations.

Software engineering and integration:

  • Custom firmware and autopilot enhancements with PX4

  • Tailored communication and control logic using MAVLink and MAVSDK

  • Companion computer integration and application software (e.g., VOXL, Jetson)

  • Custom ground control workflows and interfaces including QGroundControl (QGC) modifications and extensions

  • Platform-specific features like dynamic flight modes and safe operating behaviors

How we deliver:

  • Feature scoping and architecture aligned to your system requirements

  • Modular, maintainable code with test coverage and configuration control

  • End-to-end integration from firmware through GCS and analytics

  • Support for testing, simulation, and deployment

Training and Support

We provide structured UAS operator training, technical support, and documentation to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable system performance.

All ready-to-fly systems include onboarding instruction covering aircraft setup, ground control configuration, mission planning workflows, and routine maintenance procedures. Additional remote training sessions are available for advanced operations, payload integration, and mission-specific CONOPS, delivered worldwide.

Ongoing support includes direct access to engineering staff for troubleshooting, system configuration, mission planning optimization, and post-flight data review. A continuously updated online knowledge base provides technical documentation, FAQs, and video tutorials to enable self-service training and reduce downtime in the field.

“At Applied Aeronautics, we strive to be your one-stop shop for every UAV need—guiding our customers from concept to completion and beyond. By providing end-to-end services such as engineering support, Part 107 waiver assistance, maintenance, and training, we make sure you never have to navigate the skies alone.” – Meg Annand, COO of Applied Aeronautic
